Nahum Kaganov

Born in 1906 in Novozhivkov, Russia, he joined a number of Zionist organizations, those being the "Young Zionists", "Makkabi" and "Ha Halutz". Arrested in 1961, he was charged with having contact with the Israeli Embassy in Moscow, with receiving and distributing Zionist propaganda literature and also with the composing and distributing of nationalistic songs. He was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment in the Gulag and spent his sentence in the camps of Potma. Released in 1965, he received permission to leave the USSR in 1971. He immigrated to Israel together with his wife. He died in 1977.
